CVAG mobility badge

All CVAG buses and trams are low-floor vehicles. Thanks to the almost ground-level boarding and alighting, they can also be used comfortably by people with limited mobility.

The conditions of carriage of the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) regulate the general conditions for taking along mobility aids. The CVAG mobility badge for e-wheelchairs or e-scooters indicates compliance with these conditions quickly and clearly for our drivers, making it easier for them to decide whether to take them on board.

Details of the CVAG mobility badge

The requirements for the carriage of wheelchairs and comparable approved aids can be found in the VMS Conditions of Carriage (valid from April 1, 2024), Part D, Annex 2. The purchase of the badge is voluntary.

Requirements for (electric) wheelchairs
  • Empty dimensions: maximum 120 x 70 centimeters (L x W)
  • Size (including occupant): maximum 125 x 80 x 150 centimetres (L x W x H)
  • Weight (including occupant): maximum 250 kilograms
Where can I get the sticker?

You can obtain the badge during mobility training. Please contact our in-house driving school at: fahrschule@cvag.de.

Requirements for e-scooters
  • Maximum overall length of 1,2 meters
  • Four-wheeled vehicle
  • Limit value for the total mass of the e-scooter (unladen weight plus body weight of the user plus additional payload): 300 kilograms
  • Approval for forces acting on the e-scooter with a person sitting on it of up to 0.8 grams during emergency braking or 0.5 grams of lateral forces when cornering when positioned backwards on the leaning surface
  • Guaranteed stability through a braking system that always acts on both wheels of an axle together and cannot be bridged by a differential (e.g. separate parking brake)
  • Sufficient ground clearance and climbing ability of the e-scooter to be able to enter and exit the bus via a ramp with a maximum incline of 12 percent without hitting the floor plate at the transition from the ramp to the vehicle
  • Suitability for reversing into the bus
Can I also be transported without a carry-along sticker?

The carriage of electric wheelchairs without a badge is at the discretion of the driver. E-scooters without a badge are excluded from transportation.

Please note: The variety of assistive devices has increased enormously, which is why the decision is not always easy. A badge therefore makes everyday life easier for both passengers and our drivers.

Decision on transportation

Even with a badge, the final decision to take the wheelchair or e-scooter on board always lies with our drivers. If the wheelchair spaces are already occupied or the bus is very full, the wheelchair or e-scooter may be refused for the safety of other passengers.
