New fares from 1 April 2026
On 1 April 2026, there will be a fare adjustment in the Central Saxony Transport Association (Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen VMS) and thus also at Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG). The average fare increase of 2.4 per cent was already decided and announced by the association meeting of the Central Saxony Transport Association on 21 November 2025.
The price adjustment was necessary due to rising personnel, material and energy costs for all transport companies operating in the transport association. Since the fare adjustment in April 2025, the momentum of cost increases for transport companies has continued to grow. However, the fare adjustment will only pass on part of the increased costs to passengers.
The most important changes:
- The single fare for one fare zone will increase by 10 Cent to 3,30 €.
- The 4-trip ticket for one fare zone will increase by 40 Cent to 12,00 €
- The day ticket for one fare zone will increase by 20 Cent to 6,60 €, but day tickets for several people will mostly become cheaper or increase only marginally.
- The additional ticket VMS Deutschlandticket+ will increase by 1,00 € to 11,00 €.

The following will remain unaffected by the price adjustment:
- Single journey for children for one zone.
- Monthly travel pass for one zone and the network area.
- Young people's ticket.
- Senior citizens' ticket and senior citizens' ticket for partners.

What happens to tickets purchased at the old fare if they are not used by 31 March?
- The following transitional arrangements apply to the individual ticket types:

- Single tickets and day tickets at the old price can be used until 30 April 2026 at the latest.
- Sections of the 4-trip ticket at the old price can be used until 30 June 2026 at the latest.
- Monthly tickets can be validated until 31 March 2026 at the latest. They are valid until the expiry date.
- Subscription tickets are issued on a monthly basis at the current fare.
4-trip tickets and 10-day tickets purchased via mobile phone ticket systems are valid indefinitely until the last section is purchased, regardless of any fare changes.
Please note that tickets can only be exchanged in accordance with the applicable VMS conditions of carriage.
- The following exchange regulations apply to unused tickets:

- Unused tickets at the old price can be exchanged until 31 December 2026 after the transitional arrangements have expired.
- 4-trip tickets can only be exchanged if none of the four sections has already been validated.
